Come join the Stockdale United Church as we ring the ‘Bells of Peace’ 100 times on Remembrance Day to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.

The Royal Canadian Legion’s “Bells of Peace” initiative will unite communities across Canada as bells ring out at Parliament Hill, city halls, churches and military bases, to name just a few of the places.

The Bells of Peace initiative encourages residents to pause and reflect, and to remember all those who’ve served and sacrificed.

Stockdale United Church is among those joining in the countrywide ringing of bells this Remembrance Day and will signify the 100th anniversary of the First World War Armistice.

With the estimated time of sunset at around 4:50 p.m., bells are expected to start ringing at about 5 p.m.

“The ringing of bells emulates the moment in 1918 when church bells across Europe tolled as four years of war had come to an end,” the Royal Canadian Legion reports.
